I-League champs Minerva PFC bow out of Super Cup

I-League Champions Minerva Punjab FC crashed out in the pre-quarterfinals of the 1st Super Cup Football Tournament when they lost to Jamshedpur FC 5-4 in sudden death tie-breaker here at Kalinga Stadium today. With this win Jamshedpur FC secured their place in the last-eight stage.

Young goalkeeper Sanjiban Ghosh emerged the hero of Jamshedpur win, saving two penalty kicks in the sudden death. He effected not less than nine saves earlier in the 90 minute regulation time and 30 minute extra time. Sanjiban received a prize of Rs 25,000 from Ashok Parija, Ex-president, Odisha High Court Bar Council.

The game began with Minerva lining up a 4-3-3 formation, going in with a seemingly potent strike force of Ghanian William Asiedu, the young and talented Girik Khosla and ‘Bhutanese Ronaldo’ Chencho Geyltshen upfront.
